INTRODUCTION

THE ZERO GUIDE was written to help anyone (with a computer) turn their Guitar Hero controller into a musical instrument. Perhaps you were inspired by The Guitar Zeros, or perhaps you weren't. This guide shows you the technique used by the band, and suggests other avenues that may lead to interesting results.

Technically, this is not that easy. If you have experience with computer programming, or are familiar with MIDI concepts, then you've got a head start. Programming the controller to behave like a playable instrument - and to generate sounds that satisfy your musical desires - can be complicated (depending, of course, upon your musical interests).

UPDATE 6/3/2007 - I have zipped up my programming work and have made it available for download. The software is called FRETBUZZ, baby. It is free, free, freeee and open-source. Download it, try it, like it. Works for nearly all controllers except Wii controllers! I'm working on it!
